Review:
If there is one thing that Kresley Cole doesn’t shy away from, it is putting her characters through the ringer. That’s true of The Witch Queen of Halloween as well. In this novella, Poppy is cursed to be haunted by Halloween evil spirits and to make matters worse, she’s trapped in a haunted castle with the one who got away, our favorite smoke demon Rok. Rok and Poppy had an instant connection but an unfortunate event on their first date meant their relationship died before it began. That said, they are both still extremely attracted and aware of each other. When Rok hears about a mercenary mission Poppy is on by herself, he’s quick to join her, only to become locked into a haunted mansion, on Halloween, until morning. Poppy’s mission is to break her curse, which manifests in a way that puts her and Rok in a lot of danger. This book is a fast-paced romp as they are chased around the castle by things that go bump in the night. But its not all running. There’s still time for Rok and Poppy to address the problems of their past and to let the flame between them grow even more.
This is the perfect Halloween story, spooky and fun, and I can’t wait to reread it in October!
