About Me

Hi, I’m Melisa, the creator of Somewhere Lost in Books.

I’ve been a romance reader since I was 15 years old. My first romance was Notorious by Virginia Henley. Young Melisa noticed a historical error in the story and wrote an email to the author. Virginia Henley was nice enough to respond and a love of romance was born. From historical romance, I expanded into paranormal (teenage Melisa may have been a Twilight fan), contemporary, and erotic romance. After years of reading for my own enjoyment and bugging my friends and family with my observations, I decided to start Somewhere Lost in Books in 2015. Within this blog, I share my reviews, thoughts, loves and hates of the romance genre. Romance has been my sanctuary since I was a teen and I love to share my enthusiasm for the genre. In the last few years, I’ve seen Romance move in exciting directions, towards more inclusion, more diverse books and characters. I sincerely hope the genre continues on this path and I do what I can to prompt diverse and lesser known authors.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or just to share your love of romance!

  1. Lovely to meet a fellow blogger who love romance novels, Melisa. My favourite genre is historical romances but there is a sprinkling of contemporary romance in there too. I don’t generally read paranormal romance with the exception of J. R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood which is awesome.

    • Great to meet you too! As you can see, I read a variety of different romance genres. I started with historical romance when I was about 14 and then slowly moved into contemporary and then paranormal. If you like the Black Dagger Brotherhood, you’ll love Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunters series. Or Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling!

      • I have read some of the Dark-Hunter series but it was many years ago. I do have the first Psy-Changeling book but simply haven’t got around to reading it yet. The story of my life!
