Description:

Vance Hale has everything. A ridiculous amount of money, an Ivy-league education, and a 1,000-watt smile that can charm the designer dress right off a girl.

He’s also going to have a future that includes me—whether he wants it or not.

I don’t care that he’s trying to reform his playboy ways, or that he made a bet to go 90 days without the touch of a woman. I’ve spent the last decade planning my revenge and I need a partner in crime. This gorgeous, cunning man should do fine.

So, we strike a deal. I’ll help get him across the finish line and he’ll bring me into his world among the Cape Hill elite. Our relationship may be fake, but our chemistry is shockingly real. One innocent kiss and I’m struggling to hold up my end of the bargain.

Wanting him wasn’t part of the plan when everything else I desire is within my grasp. The only problem? Neither of us is any good at resisting temptation.

Review:

I read the previous four books in this series so, of course, I was excited for Vance’s book. His family relations are slowly starting to heal from the previous stories and I loved the appearance of the other characters including Sophia and Macalister. The Temptation features a fake relationship between Emery and Vance when she gets introduced as his girlfriend. They have a mutual friend who has gone missing and both wanted into the safe belonging to that friend’s father. Luckily, Emery is a safecracker but she needs a valid reason to be apart of the Cape Hill elite. Enter their fake relationship. In addition to that, Vance had made a deal to go for 90 days without sex which ramps up the heat between them. I loved how their fake relationship quickly dissolved into something even more serious. Both Emery and Vance were rightfully hesitant to reveal their past and their secrets but as they come out, they work through them. The sexual tension in this book was off the charts and I actually thought that made their growing relationship even stronger. In terms of external tension though, I thought this book lacked it in comparison to the other books in the series. When I read the first book, I immediately devoured the rest of the series. For The Temptation, I stopped and started it a few times and just felt less engaged with the storyline. The urgency to finish Emery and Vance’s story just wasn’t there for me. Overall, this was a solid story for Vance especially but wasn’t my favorite in the series.

Meet Nikki:

USA Today bestselling author Nikki Sloane landed in graphic design after her careers as a waitress, a screenwriter, and a ballroom dance instructor fell through. For eight years she worked for a design firm in that extremely tall, black, and tiered building in Chicago that went through an unfortunate name change during her time there.

Now she lives in Kentucky, is married and has two sons. She is a four-time Romance Writers of America RITA© / Vivian Finalist, a Passionate Plume winner, a HOLT Medallion finalist, and couldn’t be any happier that people enjoy reading her sexy words.
